EcoAraguaia Jungle Lodge, located on the banks of the Araguaia River near Cantão State Park, will host the second edition of the Espírito Araguaia Retreat from June 18 to 21. The immersive experience combines spirituality, connection with nature, wellness, and the appreciation of ancestral wisdom. The gathering will feature Indigenous spiritual leader Yube Huni Kuin and is part of the regenerative tourism approach developed by the lodge in the Tocantins Amazon region.
More than providing moments of rest and contemplation, regenerative tourism seeks to create positive impacts for people, communities, and ecosystems. In this context, the Espírito Araguaia Retreat was designed to offer participants a transformative experience, fostering inner reconnection and deep engagement with one of Brazil’s most well-preserved natural settings.
The program includes yoga sessions, meditation, conscious breathing practices, discussion circles, guided nature walks, cultural experiences, traditional ceremonies, and moments of contemplation by the forest and river. One of the highlights of the retreat will be a ceremony led by Yube Huni Kuin, a leader from the Nova Aliança Village in Acre, recognized for sharing the ancestral knowledge of the Huni Kuin people and promoting dialogue between traditional wisdom and the contemporary world.
The activities will also be guided by Cleide Regina Schmidt, a professional with extensive experience in human development, wellness, and spirituality. A yoga and meditation teacher, shamanic psychotherapist, multidimensional psychoanalyst, and guardian of the sacred medicines of the forest, Cleide has dedicated many years to supporting processes of self-discovery and expanded consciousness. Her journey brings together knowledge from different therapeutic approaches, helping to create a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for inner reconnection throughout the retreat experience.
Center of the World
The retreat takes place in the Araguaia-Cantão ecotone, a region known by some researchers and local residents as the “Center of the World” due to the unique ecological transition zone where the Amazon Rainforest and the Cerrado meet. The territory is home to remarkable biodiversity, with hundreds of species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and plants, as well as landscapes that combine white-sand beaches, flooded forests, wetlands, and upland woodlands.
According to entrepreneur Guilherme Tiezzi, owner of EcoAraguaia Forest Hotel, the second edition of the retreat reflects the growing demand for experiences that promote wellness, purpose, and genuine connection with nature.
“We are living in a time when people seek meaningful experiences—ones that inspire transformation and contribute to something greater. Regenerative tourism goes beyond contemplation. It invites visitors to establish a more conscious relationship with the environment, local communities, and themselves. The Espírito Araguaia Retreat was created precisely with this purpose in mind,” he says.
